If you are a Technical Sales professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in or near Knoxville, TN, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Process Instrumentation and automation sales to a diverse customer base including, Chemical, Power, Food & Beverage, Pulp & Paper, Government, OEM, and Engineering Contractors. The primary objective of this position is to support our customers and meet or exceed order bookings and business objectives within the assigned territory and accounts. This is a REMOTE field-based position located within the territory.

AS A TECHNICAL SALES REPRESENTATIVE YOU WILL:

  • You will work closely as a Strategic Partner with current and prospective customers to understand business needs and recommend solutions that will maintain and grow sales.
  • You establish and maintain effective customer relationships and maximize direct sales time in front of customer.
  • You have the sales skills to effectively communicate at all levels within the client's organization from maintenance, engineering, procurement, to management.
  • You have the skills and ability to make new connections and quickly build trust relationships.
  • You are a self-starter that can identify and seize new opportunities and displays a can-do attitude.
  • You persist in accomplishing objectives and goals despite obstacles and setbacks.
  • You can displace competitors while maintaining position in existing accounts
  • You can Identify and scope out capital projects, expansions, retrofits and provide leadership for all major products.
  • You can work in a Team environment and effectively utilize other business unit salespeople, marketing support, and management resources to ensure success.
  • You can effectively communicate to customers, internal resources, other business units’ salespeople, and management.
  • You have a continuous improvement attitude and will continue to build on your technical and sales competencies.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years of related technical sales experience within the automation industry
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be a self-starter and work with limited supervision
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% within territory to include 1-2 nights per week and day trips
  • Experience with CRM Packages, MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Technical Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Sciences
